On e-Learning

I have been fortunate enough to be able to attend training courses in the protection of vulnerable adults provided by AssessForCare, ranging from introductory to managerial levels. I was impressed by the accuracy and relevance of the information provided, as well as the way in which it was used to explain and promote best practice. The content of the manager’s safeguarding course was extremely practically useful without compromising on depth understanding.  I have been able to take the learning from that course straight back to work: it has improved my professional confidence, enhanced my ability to protect vulnerable residents in a more person-centred way and enabled me to offer staff clearer supervisory input that is rooted in social care legislation. I would recommend this training to anyone working to protect vulnerable adults.

The AssessForCare interactive e-learning package has been of huge benefit to Haringey. The Toolkit it is so thorough, and it acts as an instant resource. It enables staff to understand both the basics and the complexity of the legal framework across Safeguarding, The Mental Capacity Act, Community Care Law and statutory legal powers. It enables the staff to be knowledgeable and lawful in what they are doing! We now have a constant on line and available resource, so if staff across the partnership are waiting to get on an Adult Safeguarding course, or a Safeguarding Management course, they can access the information they need to know -actually when a decision needs to be made -  and apart from that the feedback is that that they really enjoy using it.’

I found the day tremendously useful and informative. It was good to be at the beginning of the consultation process and to contribute to shaping and informing the thinking of the Law Commissioners. Suzy Braye was excellent in pulling together and framing the very distinct agendas of the lawyers and the participants and we left feeling as though the debates of the day would be taken forward. Reading the latest consultation article in last week's 'Community Care', I feel validated in this view!
A very positive and exciting day. Many thanks.

AssessForcare has been the preferred provider of safeguarding adults training to Haringey Council. Staff and managers from NHS Haringey were consistently impressed with the level and standard of the training provided, through written feedback, and through personal/anecdotal evidence. Deborah Stuart-Angus was a passionate and knowledgeable expert in the field of safeguarding adults which has resulted in NHS Haringey purchasing the training from Assessforcare for 2010.

On Training & Conferences

On Conferences

AssessForCare has always delivered to our specific and exacting requirements. A flexible training approach by AssessForCare has given staff the knowledge and confidence to deliver on procurement and contract management projects.

Larger conferences and the smaller bespoke events have always met our expectations.

The AssessForCare Conference on the reform of adult social care was an extremely important part of our consultation process. It provided the Law Commission with an opportunity and platform to meet with important stakeholders, social care professionals, managers, lawyers, carers and service users. We received a wide range of opinions on our proposals for
the reform of the legal framework. The conference produced lively discussion on a range of issues including the community care assessment process, carers assessments and adult protection. The day was very well organised and managed. The AssessForCare team went out of their way to ensure that the conference was a success by meeting with us beforehand, involving us fully in the planning process and arranging the discussions to fit with our needs.

On e-Learning

Most e-Learning programmes that I've looked at only provide a basic level of awareness of abuse, whereas the AssessForCare programme is more challenging and thought provoking. Even the 'basic' awareness module in the learning pathway isn't really basic, it's pitched at a level of awareness that is useful & relevant for social care workers, social workers and managers. The Legislation Framework brings together the many pieces of relevant legislation that might need to be used in adult protection work, and makes it more 'real' for practitioners through case study/scenario questions. The legislation context for adult protection is often confusing and unclear, and sometimes practitioners aren't fully aware of their powers to act balanced with people's rights to privacy and self-determination. The AssessForCare programme deals with this particular dilemma through the types of questions and case studies used in the assessment. The programme also offers the opportunity for staff to achieve a certificate following an assessment, which is accredited by OCN(SER) - this is not offered by other e-Learning providers. Because the programme is challenging and requires people to read and study the material carefully, employers can feel safe in the knowledge that their staff have worked hard for their certificates of achievement.
