Get back to basics and bring together the outcomes and learning from recent and past child abuse fatalities to alert practitioners and managers to the common mistakes and practice issues for improving partnership working.
Martin Grant, Haringey NHS Safeguarding Lead and Moira McKinnon, Author of the Caleb Ness Report will discuss the learning that has derived post child abuse fatalities, specifically for Health and Multi-Agency Local.
Authority Partnerships. They will look at analyses of the cases of Victoria Climbie, Baby Peter, Caleb Ness and Brandon Muir. They will consider risk, lawful protection, and intervention - and will share the learning.
Influence a pragmatic way forward, creating the opportunity to openly and safely debate how to make sure we get things right, and readily apply learning. Alan Baird, Director of Social Services for Dundee City Council will talk about the future for children in Dundee with regard to improved protection, timely intervention and how this will happen.
Debate the value of a co-ordinated multi agency response, and look at lessons learned from leaders in the management of Domestic Violence. Hazel Sutherland, Chair of the Shetland Domestic Abuse Partnership will share their approach to multi agency co-ordinated response, how it works, the results and its impact on families.
